Portfolio - The Amazon

I have spent weeks motoring up the Amazon out of Iquitos, Peru, and the Amazon basin and its people, the ribereños, draw me back. The basin is a vast floating jungle, remade with every rainy season, and the people are free to make a homestead to grow bananas and manioc and to fish the great river wherever they choose.  Single homesteads and small villages punctuate the jungle’s grip on the always moving riverbank. The river teems with dolphins and fish, the jungles are a nighttime cacophony of bird and animal cries. It feels like paradise.
